American Idol Season 8, Top 5 Performances
This is going to be interesting for me tonight. I will be watching the show with my niece and nephew, ages 8 & 10. Normally, I like to watch myself, so this might be a learning experience.
Rat Pack Night, otherwise known as the Great American Songbook, should be a good test for the remaining contestants. After all, they are being asked to sing some of the most famous and recording songs around, and not sound karaoke. Pulling that off is a major feat.
Two phone numbers for each contestant, to make it easier for everyone to vote. Jacob boo'ed Simon, so he is on board with Randy. The kids noticed they are nicely dressed. Jamie Foxx surprises the contestants.

Jamie luvs him some Kris. Started slow and soft, picked up in the middle, and brought it back down. Kids loved it. A personal favorite of mine - Daddy Allen rolling his eyes at Simon. Katie agreed, calling it 'Simon's dumb opinion.' I liked it, and thought Kris was sounding good.

Allison turned 17 yesterday, and they had a surprise party for her. The kids liked her - they were taking pictures of the TV with their cell phones. Simon is Mr Crankypants. He fears for her safety.

Jamie is strange with the mentoring, calling him back in to suggest a key change. Matt sounds a bit off at the top, falling flat on the notes. Kids were bored, and didn't love it. Randy and KAra didn't love it, Simon and Paula did. Hmmm. The kids were on board with Randy.

None of us followed Jamie Foxx's advice... But there is fidgeting beside me. By the big finish, they are chatting about other things. Major pimpage going on.
COMMERCIAL BREAK - the kids are digging on Glee, too, making the hand to match the add.

Doing the song with the rock edge. The kids are loving him, and were singing with him by the end. They liked him the best.
Recap - Kris got votes from both kids, and Allison and Adam. But we are getting lots of busy signals. Jacob thought Kris was his favorite, and Katie voted for Adam. Both thought Matt was their least favorite. My favorite of tonight? Watching with the kids!
