Oscar Isaac to Play Apocalypse in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

Oscar Isaac is heading from the Star Wars Universe to the Marvel Universe.

20th Century Fox has confirmed that Isaac will play the role of the immortal Apocalypse, a villain hellbent on taking over the world, in X-Men: Apocalypse.

The movie is the third film in the X-Men prequel series centering on younger versions of the classic X-Men characters. Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are all set to return for the sequel, which is set in the 1980s this time, as these characters inch closer to their contemporary selves. The movie is due out on May 27, 2016. But you'll be able to see Isaac long before then when he ventures to a Galaxy Far, Far Away next December in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. Hell, you might even see him sooner if he's in the trailer that's supposed to premiere on Friday.

Either way, Isaac is very much an "It Guy" right now. And it's well-deserved. He's immensely talented, and delivered one of the more underrated performances of last year in Inside Llewyn Davis. So I'm stoked he's having all this success.
