Opening the Closet
I've been reading through some of my past postings in various online venues that I have written in (eGroups, GeoCities, Tripod), which I will be posting compilations of in this blog very soon. My initial feeling is that I have really become a different person from the one who began writing on the Web seven years ago. There are entries, particularly when I was in Los Angeles, which are heart-wrenching, and as I read through them last night, all I can think of was: I survived! I reflected on the place where I am staying right now in Spanish Harlem, and even if some may think of it as no man's land, it is so much better than the conditions I was in not so long ago. I've actually forgotten a lot of the feelings I had back then, and I am glad that I kept a record, though limited, of those times when life really sucked.
Most of my writing is still on the Web (unless they are in some of my book journals tucked away somewhere or my iBook). I'm keeping my old Tripod and GeoCities sites as historical records so to speak, but I'm copying them and my old eGroups here so they're in a neat place. Most of the pain is gone now (replaced by new ones no doubt). I think I can handle it.
