Online voting error plagues 'Dancing With the Stars' finale

Last night was the final performance show of the 16th season of Dancing With the Stars...which means this is pretty much the worst possible time for technical difficulties to creep their way into voting.

An undisclosed technical error with online voting caused ABC to temporarily divert fans from the network website to social media in order to cast their vote for this season’s winner.

"Voting on ABC.com is temporarily down,” the show tweeted Monday on its official site. “But you can vote by texting, calling and on Facebook.”

The website was eventually restored, and Zendaya didn't waste time in getting around to encouraging her fanbase. “Facebook and abc.com are back online,” the finalist tweeted. “Don’t forget to vote that way too…u register with email then u will get 5 votes!!”

A network spokesman said the technical error was caught early and shouldn’t affect the outcome of tonight's season finale.
