Online 'One Life to Live' and 'All My Children' will be eligible for Daytime Emmys in 2014

For those wondering how Emmy voting rules would change in the wake of the decision to move two of daytime's most venerable soap operas online, All My Children and One Life to Live, Gold Derby has your answer.

New online versions of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" will be eligible at the Daytime Emmys next year, but in what categories?" David Michaels, senior executive director of the Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards, tells Soaps In Depth that the beloved soaps ... will be eligible for consideration in 2014... it's just a matter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences deciding in which category to place them! 'In May, we have an awards committee meeting. We're going to start discussing that now,' Michaels reveals. 'There are a bunch of different ways to go. They are obviously going to be eligible for the contest; we're just trying to decide how they should be eligible.'"

So while daytime soap operas might be a dying art, what few remain will still get recognition by the television Academy.
