Nine DC Comics Movies Are Currently in the Works
So DC and Warner Bros. are apparently taking their offensive against the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the next level. In a companion article to their official announcement that Zack Snyder will direct a Justice League movie for 2018, the Wall Street Journal has unveiled Warner Bros./DC's plans to for a cinematic universe of its own.
The report states that "nine other movies based on DC comics" are currently "in development," in addition to the upcoming Man of Steel sequel (going by the tentative title Superman vs. Batman) and the Justice League follow-up. Four of the nine films include The Metal Men, Shazam, 100 Bullets, and Fables, although director/actor/producer Joseph Gordon-Levitt's interpretation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman is another known property in development. Warner Bros. has also been open about the possibility of a Wonder Woman film that will feature Gal Gadot reprising her Superman vs. Batman role. So that's six movies. Any guesses on what the other three films could be? Perhaps a do-over on the whole Green Lantern debacle, but without Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively this time? Either way, DC has some big shoes to fill if it's going to try and give Marvel a run for its money.
