'Nikita' and 'Warehouse 13' to end after next season

The CW has officially confirmed the inevitable: Nikita's fourth season will be its last.

The network declared that Nikita “wraps up her mission” next season, which lines up with showrunner Craig Silverstein's tweet that the series will have an “incredible finish.” Though Nikita won’t return until midseason, the series is getting a rare opportunity for a show with ratings this low -- it's getting the chance to finish telling its long-running, serialized story. In that sense, The CW is kind of an awesome network to be on if you're a low-rated series with a longer story to tell.

Meanwhile, Syfy has confirmed similar news about its long-running genre series, Warehouse 13. The network announced that the show will come to an end with an abbreviated, six-episode fifth season. Production on the six episodes will begin in Toronto this summer.

“Warehouse 13 has been an incredible signature series for us,” said Syfy President of Original Content Mark Stern in a statement. “We are grateful to the loyal and passionate fan base and know that Jack Kenny, his gifted creative team, and outstanding ensemble cast will give them an amazing finale season.”

The fourth season of the series will conclude in late June.
