Nigel Lythgoe: Elton John still best Simon Cowell replacement

Hollywood Reporter's Roger Friedman talked to former American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe last Monday who said he still thinks Elton John is the best choice to replace Simon Cowell next season.

“He’s absolutely it,” said Lythgoe, who also said he thinks Ellen DeGeneres is still warming up and has yet to show her full potential. And he misses Paula Abdul. “She was the glue that held it together, wasn’t she?” he said wistfully.

I like this idea! Ellen DeGeneres and Elton John at the same table? Love. It.
