Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, and More Honored at 10th Huading Awards

Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Dockery, Matthew Perry, Jeremy Irons, Avril Lavigne, Sam Worthington and Booboo Stewart were among the honorees who traveled to China to accept awards for their work at China’s 10th Huading Image Awards, held Monday at The Venetian Theater in Macau. The Huading Awards are China’s premier awards show, with honorees determined by fan votes as well as various entertainment experts. The awards recognize the best of film, television, dance, theater, music, and other genres of entertainment. Avril Lavigne, who performed her current hit single “Here Is To Never Growing Up” off her upcoming album, also performed her popular anthem “Girlfriend.”

Oscar winning actress Nicole Kidman received the Huading Award for Best Global Actress in Motion Pictures, while fellow Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage earned the Huading Image Award for Best Global Actor in Motion Pictures. Meanwhile, famed director Quentin Tarantino was awarded the Best Global Director in Motion Pictures Award for his "imaginative direction and commitment to richly layered storytelling." Global Chinese superstar Jackie Chan presented the award to Tarantino.

Avatar star Sam Worthington took home the Best Global Actor in a Motion Picture Award for his role as Jake Sully in the blockbuster epic, which broke records in China. In addition to Worthington, Booboo Stewart took home the award for Best Emerging Global Talent for his work as Seth Clearwater in The Twilight Saga.

Sir Jeremy Irons was also on hand to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments in film, which include landmark performances in Dead Ringers, Kingdom of Heaven, The Lion King, The Man in the Iron Mask, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, and Reversal of Fortune, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor. The award celebrates his 44 year career, in addition to his global acclaim as one of the best actors of his generation.

In television, Emmy-nominated actress Michelle Dockery accepted the award for Best Global Female Television Star for her role as Lady Mary Crawley on Downton Abbey. Meanwhile, Matthew Perry accepted honors for Best Global Actor in a TV Series.

Lastly, pop/punk superstar Avril Lavigne accepted the award for Best Global Female Performer. She performed “Girlfriend” and her current hit single “Here Is To Never Growing Up” off her latest self-titled fifth album, set for release on November 1 in the U.S. and November 4 in China.
