Lucas Cruikshank, Nickelodeon star and creator of the viral internet web series Fred, has come out as gay.

In a new video posted to his YouTube account, he answers the question directly: “Are you gay?”

“I’m gay. My family and friends have known for, like, three years. I just haven’t felt the need to post it on the Internet,” said Cruikshank.

Joining him for the announcement was his close friend Jennifer Veal, star of the Disney Channel show, Jessie. In the video, Veal confirms that she always knew her friend was gay, even before he officially came out.
