FOX's remake of the critically-acclaimed British series Broadchurch has added another Academy Award nominee to its lineup after Silver Linings Playbook star Jacki Weaver.
Oscar nominee Nick Nolte joins the cast of the remake, now titled Gracepoint, which centers on the tragic murder of an 11-year-old boy in an idyllic beach town. Nolte will play the role of Jack Reinhold, a "stubborn, unmarried, willful man who has lived in Gracepoint for 20 years. He runs the kayak rental on the beach as well as the local wildlife observation program, where the murdered boy was one of his volunteers." This is the American show's take on the role of troubled newsagent Jack Marshall from the original series, a part that earned critical raves for Game of Thrones star David Bradley.
Nolte joins a cast that includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver and Michael Pena in the high-profile adaptation, to be executive-produced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall and run by In Treatment’s Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein.
Gracepoint, billed as an "event series," is set to begin filming in January for air during the 2014-15 season.
