'New Girl' Casts Julian Morris for Season 4

Could Jess be replacing Nick with Once Upon A Time's Prince Phillip? It's looking like that's the case for Season 4 of New Girl.

Julian Morris, of Once Upon A Time and Pretty Little Liars fame, will be joining the cast in a recurring role as Ryan, a "distractingly handsome teacher who replaces Jess in the classroom now that she’s the vice principal. His confidence and swagger rub her the wrong way as she attempts to assert her authority."

However, her resentment soon turns into attraction, as Jess finds herself falling for the cocky Ryan. Yet this attraction isn't without difficulty.

"The complication is that she’s very much his boss," says executive producer Liz Meriwether says. "Jess is fighting her feelings for this teacher at work."

Morris is expected to make his first appearance as Ryan in an episode scheduled to air in October. However, New Girl returns much earlier than that, as Season 4 will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 16th at 9:00 PM ET on FOX. As for the part, I think Morris is a good fit, even if this is kind of close to his Pretty Little Liars role. Seriously, that description sounds a lot like Wren in the subtle "confidence and swagger" department, but it's a type that Morris plays well. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he proved to have great chemistry with Zooey Deschanel. So this should be an interesting arc to follow.

But what do you think? Sound off in the comments!
