New 'American Idol 14' Promo Highlights Past Contestants (VIDEO)
For the future, American Idol 14 is looking to its past, with a new promo highlighting past contestants who've gone on to huge things.
Granted, this isn't exactly anything new, as plenty of promos for the show in previous seasons have focused on the successes some contestants have had after the show, whether it's the six Grammys that Carrie Underwood has won, the 1.2 million records sold by Phillip Phillips, or the Oscar that Jennifer Hudson took home, this is a show that stakes much of its reputation on the ability to find viable stars.
But what about the merit of the upcoming season itself? Will the show rest on its laurels, or will it actually be decent television in its own right? Well, the latest promo gives us a peek into what's ahead, comparing these contestants to stars like the aforementioned Underwood, Phillips, and Hudson. All of whom, at one point, were simply contestants looking for that golden ticket.
