Netflix Wants 'House of Cards' Back for a Third Season

The second season of House of Cards is still in the distance, but Netflix is already looking ahead to the future.
Though details haven't been ironed out, the network reportedly wants the hit drama back for a third season. “Our intent is that the show keep going for sure,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, during the network's keynote address at the 2013 Film Independent Forum this weekend. “It was not our intent that it just run for two seasons.”
Sarandos added that “talks are in progress right now.”
This represents a reversal of sorts for the series. Netflix had originally committed to making two seasons of thirteen episodes. However, creator Beau Willimon stated he’d be up for additional episodes, despite co-executive producer Rick Cleveland claiming that the show would be ending sooner rather than later: “House of Cards is only going to go a second season and I think that’s it,” stating that the reason was because of its stars. “Kevin Spacey likes to do movies, and Robin Wright likes to do movies.”
