Season 2 hasn't even premiered yet, but Netflix is already giving its vote of confidence to House of Cards, the Emmy-nominated drama starring Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.
Netflix has renewed House of Cards for a third season. Production is expected to begin soon on Season 3.
Originally packaged as a two-season show, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has always been optimistic about the show continuing past that point.
"I think if you look at the original House of Cards, there was a natural third season, and we could go well beyond that," he said at a panel in November. Adapted by showrunner Beau Willimon from the BBC miniseries of the same name, and executive produced by David Fincher and Kevin Spacey, House of Cards centers on the ascension of Francis Underwood (Spacey), House Majority Whip, and his wife, Claire (Robin Wright). Both Spacey and Wright were both nominated for Emmys this past year for their roles, along with the show itself, which garnered nine Emmy nominations and four Golden Globe nominations, including a Best Actress win for Wright.
House of Cards Season 2 premieres February 14 on Netflix.
