NBC to reboot 'Rosemary's Baby', 'The Tommyknockers', more

In one of the more surprising stories to come out of the TCA press tour, NBC has announced its decision to continue to develop more limited series beyond Mark Burnett’s sequel to his massively-successful The Bible miniseries.

Entertainment Weekly reports that NBC Entertainment head Bob Greenblatt has confirmed the network will reboot the iconic 1968 psychological horror film, Rosemary's Baby, for primetime. The original film starred Mia Farrow as a pregnant woman who feared her husband may have promised her unborn child to their creepy, possibly-occultist neighbors. The rebooted series is described as a retelling of Ira Levin's bestselling novel, and will focus on a young husband and wife living in Paris where “this edge-of-your-seat thriller unfolds.”

In addition to rebooting Rosemary's Baby, NBC has also announced plans to redo The Tommyknockers, based on Stephen King's 1987 novel about residents in a small Maine town. The book had previously been made into a miniseries starring Jimmy Smits and Marg Helgenberger in 1993. The network looks to recreate the similar success CBS is currently enjoying after adapting King's Under the Dome into a full-fledged series.

Lastly, NBC is looking to Mark Burnett to once again produce a hit on the scale of The Bible. Burnett will executive produce Plymouth, a limited series which "examines the challenges and drama of the Pilgrims’ journey across the Atlantic and the difficulties of settling in a new country."
