NBC Reviving 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' With Nick Cannon
NBC is feeling nostalgic for the most random things, these days.
On the one hand, I have no trouble getting on board with Heroes Reborn, since I adored Heroes. But a revival of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous? I'm not so sure.
NBC is reviving Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, the Robin Leach-hosted series that ran for over a decade in the 80s and 90s. This reboot will be hosted by America's Got Talent emcee Nick Cannon, a star around whom the entire show will be centered. The Hollywood Reporter confirms the show will "focus heavily on Cannon’s point of view and include fun profiles on ultra-wealthy individuals with vibrant personalities, hobbies and tastes." Tech moguls will also be included along with your standard rank-and-file celebs, because the tech of the future is a thing that needs to be addressed, I suppose.
It's hard to imagine the show will retain the same appeal it had thirty years ago, but there's no accounting for TV tastes, so who knows? Maybe this is just the show NBC needs to help prop up its schedule. If nothing else, Cannon is a charismatic presence who should be able to at least make things entertaining.
What do you think of the revival? A good idea or a flop in the making? Sound off in the comments!
