NBC Prepping Couples Weight Loss Show, 'The Weight For Love'

NBC is already in the weight loss business with The Biggest Loser formula, but the network is looking to expand its lineup in the weight loss genre of reality TV.

NBC has given a "cast-contingent series order" to The Weight for Love, an original series in which overweight couples commit to separate for a period of time in order to regain their health, before reuniting in an emotional reveal. Each hour-long episode would feature the journey of a different couple. Basically, just call it Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition.

The show comes from Amazing Race producer Rick Ringbakk (who also produced NBC's Fashion Star) and producer Craig Armstrong (the man behind TBS's King of the Nerds, and ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition). The duo will executive produce the series.

However, the show's future is far from set, due to that pesky "cast-contingent" clause in the series order.

In short, Ringbakk and Armstrong must find a cast that will satisfy NBC. Four casting calls will be held in major U.S. cities, and if NBC likes what they see, The Weight for Love will be picked up to series.

Casting calls will be held in the following locations on the following dates:
