NBC has lowered the ax on a sitcom that proved to be one of the bigger disappointments of the 2013-2014 broadcast season, in terms of ratings performance.
The network has "halted production" on Sean Saves the World, just four episodes shy of completing its 18-episode order. While not an official cancellation announcement, an order to halt production is all but confirmation of a show's demise in industry circles. Hayes tweeted out a statement following the release of the news:
Thanks to @SeanSavesWorld actors & crew & @NBC for a wonderful opportunity. Looking forward to Obama's minimum wage increase to $10/hr.

Sean Saves the World didn't benefit from the decision to move the show from 9:30/8:30c, as the series dropped to 2.6 million viewers and a weak 0.7 rating in the key demo, so this decision was inevitable.
The two remaining unaired episodes of Sean Saves the World will be burned off following the Olympics.
