NBC Cancels 'Dracula', 'Parenthood' Hangs in the Balance

NBC is one of the many networks making scheduling announcements in this week's upfronts. In addition to picking up DC Comics adaptation Constantine, NBC has officially canceled Community, Revolution, Crisis, Believe, and Growing Up Fisher.

However, the cancellations aren't over just yet.

The network has put a stake in Dracula, the reinterpretation of Bram Stoker's legendary creation starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Despite being pared with dependable Friday night drama Grimm, the show struggled to find an audience. The cancellation was a bit of a foregone conclusion, although the show did pick up a bit of a cult following towards the end of its run, as the series had a certain campy, dark charm to it.

Speaking of charm, NBC has still yet to make a decision on Parenthood. This is alleged to be the result of a pay discrepancy with the cast of the successful show. However, NBC has reportedly reached an agreement with the actors, clearing the path to a 13-episode sixth and final season. The final season is expected to consist of somewhere between nine and thirteen episodes, although nothing is official.
