National Board of Review Names Top Films of 2013 - Full Winners List
Credit: Warner Bros. Pictures
The National Board of Review has made its picks for 2013, and Spike Jonze's Her is the big winner. The film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as an introvert who develops an attachment to a Siri-like computer program voiced by Scarlett Johansson, took top honors as the Best Film of the year, with Jonze taking Best Director. Fruitvale Station also impressed, taking home three awards, including acting prizes for Octavia Spencer and Michael B. Jordan, in addition to its citation on the top 10 list for Best Films of 2013. Alexander Payne's Nebraska, meanwhile, took home acting awards for Bruce Dern and Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte, adding some genuine interest to the acting categories in this year's Oscar race, as contenders are splitting awards attention all over the place. This is already one of the more exciting seasons I can remember.
