National Board of Review Names 10 Best Films of 2014 - Winners List
The winners are in for the National Board of Review, as awards season begins to heat up. The board, consisting of filmmakers, critics, and film academics, has named its picks for the best films and performances of 2014, leading off by declaring A Most Violent Year its big winner.
The film, which stars Oscar Isaac as an ambitious businessman attempting to build a heating oil empire, took home the awards for Best Film and Best Supporting Actress for Jessica Chastain, while Isaac tied with Michael Keaton (Birdman) for Best Actor. Among box office heavyweights, The LEGO Movie won Best Original Screenplay while How To Train Your Dragon 2 won Best Animated Feature. Meanwhile, although presumptive Oscar threat Gone Girl didn't win any individual awards, it earned a spot on the National Board of Review's list of the Top 10 films of the year.
