Mumford & Sons' will be forced to postpone several of its upcoming shows, as bassist Ted Dwane has been taken to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain.
The Grammy-winning folk-rock band posted a statement on its official website, writing that Dwane had been "feeling unwell for a few days" and was taken to a hospital, where doctors found the clot.
"The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation, Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery," read the statement.
However, as a result of Dwane's absence, Mumford & Sons has been forced to reschedule planned shows for Dallas and Woodlands, Texas, as well as a show in New Orleans on June 13. The group stated that these shows would all be rescheduled as soon as possible, adding that tickets for this week's canceled shows will be honored on the make-up dates.
"We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour," said the band. "We're all wishing Ted a speedy recovery."
The band's next gig is lined up for June 15 at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. The group has been touring in support of their sophomore album, Babel, which was not only 2012's biggest-selling debut, but also the Grammy winner for Album of the Year.
