Looks like this is the end of the fame-seeking journey of "Zach Stone."
MTV has opted to cancel the Bo Burnham comedy Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous after one season.
"We are huge fans of Bo Burnham and the entire creative and talented team behind Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward with an additional season of the series. We wish Bo, the cast and the entire production crew the very best," MTV said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Burnham, the 22-year-old Internet phenom, who achieved comedic success with his inventive, music-tinged standup sets and viral videos on YouTube, starred as the title character, in addition to serving as the show's co-creator, executive producer and writer on the series.
The series, which launched in the Thursday, 10:30 p.m. timeslot in May, was moved to 11 p.m. in June. The bid to increase viewership ultimately failed. Though the series launched with 650,000 viewers in its original timeslot, the number quickly dwindled to half that in the past several weeks.
The cancellation is further indicative of the changes among MTV brass. In addition to the cancellation of Zach Stone, the network just parted ways with Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich.
