Most Popular Rickey.org Posts of 2011

By Rickey · 2011-12-30

My goal for 2012 is to ride a few scandals that don't involve nudity. LOL. It's a bit much this year, but hey, a lot happens in 365 days. Unlike the Most Popular Reality TV Performances of 2011 where shows other than American Idol were represented, the most read posts on the blog this year were mostly focused on one thing: skin. Rickey.org readers chased one boobie after another, it's a bit ridiculous.

There are no Reality TV performances in the Top 20, which shows how much we've deviated into pop culture topics during the year. In 2010, pop culture and reality were equally popular and in 2009, it was all reality.

I'm still very happy however. Visitors and pageviews doubled from last year. Over 11.3 million unique visitors graced the blog in 2011, the most we've ever had. In March this year, we had 840,000+ unique visitors -- the most we've ever had for a single month during an American Idol season.

Some interesting traffic stats: 15% of all pageviews came from Scarlett Johansson, 7% from Lindsay Lohan and 1% from Mila Kunis.

The most popular Reality Shows in order: American Idol, The X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance and America's Got Talent.

The Top 20

1. Scarlett Johansson – Naked Pictures Leak

The most read post since the middle of September 2011. In October 2011, Rickey.org was the #1757 U.S. web site according to Quantcast. Over 2.6 million visitors and counting.

2. Lindsay Lohan – Playboy Pictures Leak

I was actually almost 24 hours late to post this, but having the pics leak on the weekend helped the blog capture everyone's attention for 3 days. And then I got an e-mail from Playboy...

3. Mila Kunis Hacked Cellphone Pictures

A vaporware post. The pictures never materialized, but the news of it still got readers interested. It may still happen!

4. Jennifer Lopez Nip Slip Wardrobe Malfunction

JLo still has it! I was pleasantly shocked that a lot of people were still interested in this -- as if JLo hasn't shown enough skin throughout her career.

5. Jackass star Ryan Dunn dead at 34

Before ScarJo (and the trickle effect she had on all the other NSFW posts), this post was the most popular individual item ever on the blog -- beating Adam Lambert Mad World. People really wanted to see the car wreck.

6. Scarlett Johansson Contacts FBI About Leaked Photos

Spawn of the original ScarJo post.

7. Chris Brown Naked Picture Violates The Internets

Pencil d%ck! Ew.

8. Nancy Grace – Nip Slip – Dancing with the Stars Video

This post was more popular than I could bear. Still Not Safe For Life.

9. Mariah Carey gives birth to twins: a girl and a boy

This is actually powered by a Google Images search of Mariah naked and pregnant with Nick Cannon.

10. Rihanna — Nude

One of the ScarJo trickle effect posts -- this was posted in 2009.

11. Anthony Weiner's Weiner Picture

Another surprise when this became popular. This post easily beat the American Idol finale (which is one of the most popular during the year) just three weeks earlier.

12. Mariah Carey Twins Named: Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe

Yup, another naked Mariah.

13. The Lavender Town Syndrome

Gabe's gift to the blog in 2010. This post has achieved a cult following on the Internet and cannot be stopped.

14. Hope Solo poses nude for ESPN

One day we will get Maks on this list.

15. Project Runway's Anya Ayoung Chee was in a Miss Universe Sex Tape Scandal

Bravo's stunt casting is Rickey.org's gain.

16. One Direction to release line of boxer shorts

Yay! Go One Direction!

17. Cher Lloyd – Swagger Jagger – MP3 Leak

So surprised this got attention. Again -- this was more popular than the American Idol finale!

18. Brendon Villegas cheats on Rachel Reilly – Big Brother
