'Modern Family' Totally Just Paid for All NYC Marriages

In one of the more awesome gestures from any TV show in some time, all marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies taking place on Monday, May 12, at the New York City Clerk's office was paid in full by Modern Family, the ABC comedy that not only wins a million Emmys every year, but also wins a million internets with this move.

The promotion was in celebration of the upcoming nuptials between onscreen couple Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson). Ferguson and Stonestreet appeared on Good Morning America to make the announcement, and discuss the upcoming wedding, which will be the focus of the final two episodes of Modern Family this season.

"It's a rare opportunity you get as actors. You never think of that when you're out there auditioning for different parts in TV shows and not getting them, and then to finally get a gig like this that is really, truly -- not to put too much importance on it, but owning it a little bit -- having social impact, cultural impact. We hear it from kids, we hear that from parents, so we know it's real."

Congratulations to all the happily married couples! Dig those free nuptials.
