Modern Family - See You Next Fall - Recap

Alex is graduating from middle school and the families are getting ready to head out to her graduation. Cam's morning doesn't go so well and he ends up taking a nose dive into Lily's pool. Most people, like myself, would have cracked up at that. That's just what Mitchell does actually. Cam isn't happy that Mitchell dared to laugh at his obvious near death experience. They argue over how insensitive Mitchell is and it only gets worse for Cam when he walks into a screen door and the rest of Mitchell's family joins in on the laughter. Humor must be a family thing.

With Alex graduating, Phil senses the emotions coursing through Claire will result in a breakdown just like any other child milestone. It's like clockwork. Phil is hoping that this time she breaks down earlier than expected as he has a trip to Vegas to plan for. Nice. Phil tries to antagonize Claire into dissolving into tears by bringing up how sad the graduation is every two minutes. Speaking of things that are ridiculous, Jay gets botox during a routine visit to the dermatologist. Unfortunately for him, he had a bad reaction to it. He shows up to drive to the graduation looking like he's one step away from a stroke.

Everyone wanting to take Jay to the doctor is just distracting Claire from getting to Alex's graduation on time. When the gate to Jay's house won't open and traps everyone on the driveway, Claire and Phil grab a two person bicycle and try to make it that way. Halfway along, the chain breaks and Claire is left ready to cry on the sidewalk. Her tears and reasons behind them cause Phil to break down as well and no longer want to go party in Vegas. They hitch a ride with some landscapers and make it in time for Alex's speech.
