Modern Family - Season 3 Episode 22 - Disneyland - Recap

Here is my recap of Season 3 episode 22 of Modern Family: "Disneyland."

I wish I was in an ABC sitcom so I would be contractually obligated to spend a day at Disney.

The families take a trip to spend the day at Disneyland. The perfect day. Claire is manipulating before they even get into the car and asks a boy she thinks will be perfect for Haley to come along. He's a "good" guy and not a bad boy she's used to. Imagine Claire's rage when they run into Dylan at the park and Ethan hits it off with Alex better. Dylan was fired from his job in wyoming and is now a Dapper Dan on a bicycle built for four. Dylan dons a Little John costume (and has no idea what movie he's from) and tells Haley he still loves her and they get back together.

Gloria and Phil aren't having a great time. Despite warnings from Jay about the amount of walking they're going to have to do, Gloria stubbornly wears a pair of huge heels. It's not long before she's in dire pain and Jay saves the day by buying her Minnie Mouse slippers to cushion the rest of her day. After one ride on Indiana Jones, Phil is stunned to learn he's dizzy and queasy. Jay tells him it's just part of getting old. You can't handle rides anymore. This depresses Phil who worries he won't be able to have fun with Luke anymore. But Luke assures him he'll always do things with him. And good news! You're not getting old Phil. You just have the Flu.

Mitchell and Cam have a new worry over Lily. Her tendency to just bolt away from then and run wherever they are. Since Disney is a huge park, they decide to use a parenting tool known as a child leash. Mitchell is against it because he doesn't want to treat their daughter like a pet but Cam thinks its safer. Facing judgment and looks from others, Mitchell takes it off and Lily goes running. Jay saves the day by buying Lily her first pair of heels to slow her down.
