Modern Family - Season 3 Episode 21 - Planes, Trains, and Cars - Recap

This episode of Modern family reminded me why I love Cam and Mitchell so much.

When they take Lily on her first train ride, things take a turn for the horrible when they leave her favorite stuffed bunny behind.

Phil heads to the dealer to get himself a new car. Instead of going with the sensible option, he comes home with a sports car that only seats two. Seeing as he didn't talk it over with Claire ahead of time, you can imagine her reaction. When Phil needs to meet a client and doesn't have the room, he borrows the mini van. Claire takes the sports car and heads up the coast to the beach for a little revenge. She has a nice day cartwheeling on the beach..until she loses the keys in the sand.

Jay grabs Gloria and Manny for a trip to his high school reunion. He was a football star back in the day so he can't wait to show off to his old buddies. He plans for the group to fly a rickety, small, private plane to the event but Gloria puts her foot down. While driving, Jay blows a tire and it won't be able to get fixed in time. They can't rent a car, so their only option is a dusty helicopter. Jay confesses to Gloria that the real reason he wants to get her there is because he was a shy guy who always sat on the bench. Now, he has a trophy wife. Apparently, being a trophy is a compliment and she hauls ass to get them there. Sofia Vergara is so pretty.

While taking Lily on her first train ride, Cam and Mitchell make a huge mistake. As they get off the train, Cam bends down to tie Lily's shoe and he throws the bunny to Mitchell. Mitchell is not much for sports. The bunny doll flies onto the train and the doors close. Cam tries to come up with anything to get the doll back and even makes up some MISSING flyers. Mitchell thinks it's time to teach their daughter about loss. They find the bunny being caressed by a sleeping homeless guy hacking on it. They make the decision to walk away.
