Modern Family - Princess Party - Recap

The family gets together to celebrate Lily's birthday. Claire is on edge when her mother visits from the party and brings her old high school boyfriend with her. Robbie, guest star Matt Dillon, makes dinner awkward by revealing all the things he used to do with Claire when they were younger. While Haley sure enjoys all of this news, it doesn't make for good dinner conversation. Things get worse when Claire and Phil walk in on her mom and Robbie making out in the yard. Awkkwardddd.

Gloria buy a recordable storybook for Lily's present and gets Jay and Manny to help her out. It's really hilarious trying to hear her tell the story. Her accent is insane and not the best for the three little bears. Gloria confesses to Jay that she'd rather not go to the party and deal with his ex wife. Jay is thrilled at the news because he thinks he can use this to his advantage and skip things he doesn't want to deal with in the future. Unfortunately for him, Gloria decides to attend the party with the help of some Tequila and Xanax. The mixture makes for an interesting Gloria.

Cam is looking forward to performing at the birthday party as Fizbo the clown but Mitchell puts his foot down. He would rather have a princess themed party and has already hired the princess. Cam doesn't hide his hostility towards the Princess performing at the party and tries to get her to break character. The party gets crazy when Claire and her mom fight over Robbie and make a big scene. Things escalate when Didi pounces on an extremely calm Gloria. The only person who can save the day is Fizbo the clown, huge shoes and all.
