Modern Family - Our Children, Ourselves - Recap

Alex's constant obsession with studying has Phil and Claire worrying about her. They try to snap her out of it and encourage her to have fun, something she's very unfamiliar with. Jumping on the trampoline is really not how she'd prefer to be spending her time when a big test is coming up. When she comes in second place on her test, Alex makes a passing comment about having average parents. Claire and Phil start to blame themselves for holding their children back and attempt to smarten themselves up. In the end, they realize that their time is better spent watching really bad sci fi movies.

Gloria attempts to make new friends with a couple she and Jay met previously on vacation. Jay can't wait to get rid of them because they're loud, boring and obnoxious and he decides it's a good idea to tell this to their face. It makes things awkward because Gloria has already invited them to spend the night. Not wanting them to leave, Gloria asks them to stay anyway. She covers up Jay's rudeness by telling them his old age has caused him to start losing his mind. The couple start to freak out when Manny goes over Jay's erratic driving and constant swearing and they can't get to the airport quick enough.

While out with Cam, Mitchell runs into an ex girlfriend from high school. That's right. Girlfriend. Her name is Tracy and Mitchell took her to the prom and hooked up with her at their class reunion. Things are awkward for awhile and Tracy doesn't seem too thrilled talking to Mitchell. She's obviously harnessing some resentment for being his beard back in high school. When she leaves, Mitchell spots her with a red headed boy about 8 years old, the same number of years since they hooked up. He starts to panic about having a second child all this time and Cam silently weeps in a corner somewhere.

They share a moment together about how much they love each other (awww. Jesse is looking good in this scene) and decide to go make things work with Tracy. They show up to visit Mitchell's assumed son with a gift and beg Tracy for a relationship with him. He walks in the room and it turns out to be a little person, aka Tracy's new husband. Awkward.
