Modern Family - Mother Tucker - Recap

Cam's mother comes back to town for the holidays and Mitchell is less than thrilled. He's never spoken up about it but Cam's mother makes him very uncomfortable. She's a very touchy feely mother and is constantly, although harmlessly, inappropriately touching Mitchell. Cam never notices when she does it so Mitchell doesn't know what to do. After talking to Claire about his concerns and getting nowhere because Claire just thinks it's hilarious, she suggests that Mitchell find a way to get Cam to notice what his mother is doing.

Mitchell tries to entice Cam's mom to touch him inappropriately and all Cam notices is that Mitchell is acting like a perv. He grabs Mitchell and tries to understand why he's hitting on his mom, and Mitchell tells him the truth. A bit loudly because Cam's mother overhears and feels terribly. They reach an understanding about her overstepping her boundaries but it doesn't take long before she's giggling and feeling around in Mitchell's bathtub bubbles.

After spending a little too much time with her making out with her math tutor, Haley breaks up with Dylan. Phil is more heartbroken over this than Hayley and takes it upon himself to cheer Dylan up when he shows up to the house a moping mess. Phil convinces Dylan that he needs to move on. They go guitar shopping together and share a sundae at some outdoor restaurant and bond. Hayley catches Dylan sharing a sundae with someone and assumes he has a new girlfriend already and grabs his phone when it rings. Thinking she's about to verbally abuse the skank who has her ex boyfriend, she's more than a little surprised when her dad is on the other end.

Jay is suffering from stomach pain and doesn't know what to do about it. He's hesitant to bring it up in front of Gloria because where she comes from, going to the hospital for help is considered a wimpy thing to do. Jay enlists the help of Manny and some internet doctor advice to try and diagnose what's ailing him. When the pain gets to be too much, he asks Manny to hide the fact that he's going to the hospital. Gloria and Manny join Jay in the emergency room where Gloria is shocked to find out that Jay needs emergency surgery to remove his appendix. Feeling guilty and like a horrible wife, she pleads with Jay rather loudly in the doctor's office to forgive her, convinced that he'll die in the operating room.
