Modern Family - Manny Get Your Gun - Recap

It's Manny's birthday and the families are getting together for a celebration dinner. Thankfully for us, they can't make it to the dinner without some bickering and shenanigans.

While reminiscing about last year's trip to Family Camp where Phil was an accidental white power advocate, Claire and Phil bet each other who can drive to the restaurant faster. They split up the kids and gun it down different routes. Both groups have obstacles in the way however and end up pulling over. Claire and Luke pull over to have a talk about why Luke would choose to live with Phil if the two of them ever got divorced. Phil gets his heart broken when the girls tell him they don't want to go back to Family Camp. Phil ends up bursting into tears, causing the two girls to bawl with him and i actually feel a little sad for him once I'm done laughing my ass off.

Manny is depressed about getting older and missing his childhood when Jay tells him he's always been mature for his age. He starts to do all the things he thinks he missed out on like prank phone calls, mixing soda flavors (ew) and lounging on a pool raft. His misery is unnoticed by Jay and Gloria who are at war over who lost the car keys. Jay annoys Gloria with his "I Told You So" attitude over her misplacing them but it turns out he had them all along. He hides them in Gloria's purse so as not to be wrong but she finds out eventually when he admits what he's done. She starts screaming and punching him in the car before going for Manny's BB gun. That scene was hilarious.

Cam tries to get Mitchell to stop being so rigid and worried about schedules and to start enjoying life. It's being spontaneous that makes life fun according to him. He tries to get Mitchell to help put back together a couple whose combined age is probably 257 and only succeeds in having the old man smash Mitchell's cell phone. Mitchell drags Cam away under the pretense that time is running out to buy Manny a birthday present but surprises Cam with his participation in a flashmob. Joining a huge group in the mall dancing to En Vogue, Mitchell surprises everyone with his skills. Cam is less than thrilled however that Mitchell has cheated on him with choreography.
