Modern Family - Halloween - Recap

It's that time of year. Time to break out the costumes and pig out on candy. It's Halloween for the families and they go all out. Claire and Phil try and make their house the most decorated and scariest house on the block. Halloween is Claire's favorite holiday and she won't settle for anything less than perfect and asks everyone to help out. While decorating, Phil learns that his neighbor is going through a divorce and starts to panic about his relationship with Claire. Fearing she could one day blindside him with a divorce, he tries to be extra loving and spontaneous.

Cam doesn't like Halloween due to a traumatic experience as a child ending with him wetting his pants in front of the town. Mitchell is excited to learn his new co workers dress up for Halloween so he decides to dress up as Spiderman. Unfortunately for him, when he arrives at work, he realizes nobody but a couple weirdos have dressed up. He panics and puts his dry cleaning over his costume and spends the day looking extra bulky. He tries to change out of the costume in the bathroom but gets stuck when he hides in a stall and drops his jacket in the toilet. He sneaks out to his car, still in his costume and loses his keys. He accidentally sets off a bunch of alarms drawing the attention of his entire firm.

Jay and Gloria end up in a rare fight when Jay hurts Gloria's feelings. She asks him to be honest with her about how difficult it is to understand her accent and he does. Annoyed, Gloria spends the rest of the day talking in a haughty soccer mom tone, over pronouncing everything. Despite this hiccup, Claire tries to keep the family together to create her perfect haunted house. Things get difficult when her dad can't figure out how to work the fog machine, Hayley shows up as a slutty Mother Theresa, Alex would rather study, and Cam is busy sobbing in the corner remembering his youth. After Claire blows up at them for not trying their hardest, they work together to scare the crap out of the children of the neighborhood.
