Modern Family - Good Cop Bad Dog - Recap

Mitchell is horrified when Cam comes down with the flu on the night of the Lady Gaga concert they had been planning to go to. Mitchell is depressed because he knows he should stay home to take care of Cam after all the times he's done so for him. But naturally, when it comes to being in a room full of germs and rocking out to Lady Gaga, the concert is the clear winner. When Cam passes out from what appears to be an overdose of Nyquil, Mitchell tries to sneak out of the house with Lily to go enjoy the concert. Unfortunately for him and his leather jacket, Cam wakes up and catches him at the door. Before Cam can reprimand Mitchell properly for not rubbing his feet long enough, he falls asleep again on the couch and wakes up to Mitchell pretending to have stayed home the entire time. Glowsticks still glow even after the concert is over Mitchell.
Jay isn't thrilled when Gloria brings home another "stray dog" if you will. This time it's a guy with a heavy accent who wants nothing more than business advice from Jay on what he knows is the best money making idea ever. He demonstrates his fool proof dog training system devised of feeding the dog good and bad dog treats. It's really as bad as you would expect. The dog refuses the treats all together and enjoys chewing on Jay's pillow. Jay decides to be blunt with the guy and ends up reducing him to tears and wanting to give up the dog. To Jay's dismay, Gloria offers to adopt the dog. Jay takes the dog back to the pound but one look into those big puppy eyes and Manny has a new pet. Yay!
Phil and Claire are having trouble disciplining the kids. The tradition as always been for Claire to play the bad cop role and punish the kids while Phil looks on with nothing to offer. Claire is sick of this and demands they switch roles. Claire takes the boys Go Karting instead and Phil stays behind to make sure the girls clean their bathroom. The girls announce they are finished and go outside to head to the mall. Phil walks in and sees that they've done nothing and chases after them, flinging himself onto their car to stop them from going anywhere. LOL "you've poked the bear girls!" Phil suddenly morphs into an extreme version of Claire's bad cop, refuses the girls lunch and duct taping their laptops together. Claire however, goes overboard trying to be the fun parent and ends up filling the kids with a ton of junk food and making Luke throw up in the car.
