Modern Family - Family Portrait - Recap
Claire is obsessed with getting the entire family together for the perfect family portrait but nothing is going her way. It's one of those days where you feel like everything is against you and the bad luck keeps mounting up. She picks out perfect white outfits for everyone in the family and obsesses about the tiniest things that could ruin the picture. Her main enemy? A broken stair. Instead of waiting for Phil to get home, Claire decides to take care of it herself. Anyone who didn't think Claire was non mechanical should just hush right now.
Gloria takes Phil, Manny and Alex to a basketball game while Claire is home being neurotic. Claire and Haley watch Phil on tv at home and decide it would be funny to call him and freak him out while he's on camera. Claire gets a not so funny surprise when her loving husband ignores her call on camera. Things get worse for Phil when he and Gloria get put on the Kiss Me Cam. Phil tries to ignore it but can't when Gloria takes matters into her own hands and kisses Phil. Phil sits there, dumbstruck, pockets full of chips and candy, and starts to panic when he realizes he was on camera for his wife to see.
Cameron and Mitchell are a little tense when Cam is hired for a gig as a wedding singer. Mitchell dislikes small talk and would rather avoid it all together. Cam isn't happy with Mitchell being unsupportive but keeps it to himself. Mitchell gets a little payback it seems when he's attacked by a pigeon. And by attacked, I mean a pigeon lands in the living room and chills. Mitchell freaks out in the best way possible, running and screaming and hyperventilating throughout the house. He decides to try and take out the bird with pillows and a fire extinguisher and ends up destroying his living room instead.
Claire loses her temper when the family finally gets together to take her perfect family portrait and things continue to unravel. Gloria shows up in a super revealing dress, Cam and Mitchell are bickering, sprinklers are going off, Haley is freaking out over a pimple and Phil is desperate for her forgiveness. Jay finally gets fed up with the ridiculousness of the day and sets everyone straight with a good old fashioned telling off. Then some mud. The family enjoys a silly mud fight in their white outfits and take the not-so-perfect but extremely happy family portrait. Not everything has to be perfect and certainly not normal with this very modern family.
