Modern Family - Chirp - Recap

With Claire and Haley home sick, Phil takes on double the work at home while trying to balance the work at his job. His job starts to suffer when he becomes distracted by a beeping smoke detector. Unable to figure out which one is doing the beeping, he develops a personal vendetta against it. In between Phil burning Lady Fingers, Claire worries Haley about not loving Phil anymore when she tries to get Haley to understand her boyfriend is a doofus.

Gloria is excited to celebrate another monumental occasion with Jay and decides they should recreate their first date. Manny almost gets hurt because of an idiot that works for Jay and Jay decides to fire him. Thinking it's unfair, Manny decides to stop talking to Jay. Unable to focus on both things, Jay can't remember where he and Gloria had their first date. When Manny continues to ice him, Jay tells him that no matter what, he wasn't going to let some idiot hurt his kid. Touched by Jay finally calling Manny his own, he helps Jay out by telling him what restaurant to go to.

Cam and Mitchell disagree over whether or not to give Lily the chance at being a child actor. Mitchell puts his foot down on the whole idea and heads to work but Cam is tired of his opinion not counting. He takes Lily to the audition anyway for a local mattress commercial not knowing what the commercial will be. When Mitchell finds out what Cam has done, he goes down to the warehouse to talk him out of it. The commercial starts and it's a mildly racist, Japanese influenced, Look Who's Talking mess. Just when you think it can't get worse, the voice overs put on really stereotypical accents for the babies and a Godzilla comes out. Cam agrees with Mitchell that it isn't the right thing for their daughter and goes to take her home. Only he picks up the asian boy baby next to her.
