Mitt Romney's grandson's name is literally 'Black Romney'
Mitt Romney recently made headlines when a family picture which included his African American grandson Kieran James Romney was ridiculed by MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry.
Harris-Perry has since apologized, but there's another piece to this story that people have not talked about: Kieran Romney literally means "Black" Romney. Think Ebony Romney, but a guy.
According to sites BabyNames and ThinkBabyNames, "Kieran" means "black" or "dark". Nice. Glad to know that the Romney family appropriately named the newest member of their family, just in case it wasn't obvious to everyone that he's black.
This reminded me of a friend who's family members were all adopted. In order to organize their file folders, his parents used -- of course -- color coding: "black", "brown", "yellow", etc. For the first couple of years since they adopted him, they identified him as their "yellow" child. So inappropriate.
