It's the most wonderful time of the year...for espionage. Or rather, it will be in 2015.

Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Mission: Impossible 5 will hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2015.

Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in the movie, which will re-team the actor with Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie. The script will be written by Drew Pearce, who co-wrote Iron Man 3 with Shane Black, who is renowned for his ability to write lively, intense action setpieces into each of his scripts.

Mission: Impossible 5 will share the Christmas Day release date with Kung Fu Panda 3 and Ben Affleck's adaptation of Dennis Lehanes crime epic, Live By Night. Further crowding the holiday schedule is stiff competition from Universal's upcoming Warcraft adaptation and Star Wars: Episode VII.
