Actress and Former Miss Venezuela Monica Spear Murdered

29-year-old Monica Spear, former Miss Venezuela and a popular soap-star and her ex-husband Thomas Henry Berry were violently killed in a senseless attack after becoming stranded while on vacation.

The former couple and their 5-year-old daughter Maya were spending the New Year in Venezuela when they were attacked on an isolated highway by robbers during what appeared to be a minor accident, which had them stranded on the Valencia-Puerto Cabella highway.

Police report that the family tried to stop the crime by locking themselves in the car after their tires were punctured.

Ultimately, the 2005 Miss Venezuela and 39-year-old Berry were shot to death late Monday night (Jan. 6), while Maya sustained a shot to the leg.

After undergoing treatment, Maya is in stable condition and staying with family in the area.
