HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas authorities say that country singer Mindy McCready was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A news release from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office says that McCready, 37, was found dead Sunday afternoon with what appears to be a single, self-inflicted wound. She was found on the front porch of a home.

McCready hit the top of the country charts before personal problems sidetracked her career

In 1996, her "Guys Do It All the Time" hit No. 1 and its dig at male chauvinism endeared her to females.

From WENN:

CELEBRITY REHAB patient MINDY MCCREADY has died of an apparent suicide.

The troubled country singer passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday (17Feb13), after her body was found in her Heber Springs, Arkansas home, according to E! News.

The 37 year old's death comes just one month after her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson, was found dead from a suicide in January (13).

McCready was having a hard time dealing with Wilson's death, and earlier this month (Feb13), a judge ordered the singer into a medical facility after concerned family members questioned her ability to care for her two sons, six-year-old Zander and nine-month-old Zayne.

However, doctors released McCready and she returned home last Thursday (07Feb13) to undergo 21 days of outpatient treatment.

McCready was featured on the third season of Celebrity Rehab, where she underwent treatment for her addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs.

In 2008, McCready had a failed suicide attempt, when she was hospitalized after she cut her wrists and took several pills.
