Heroes alum Milo Ventimiglia is joining Revenge star Barry Sloane on the latest project from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin TV.
Ventimiglia has signed on for the role of John Doe/Drew Bennigan on the upcoming ABC alien pilot The Visitors.
The description for the role is as follows:
Found unconscious in a DC alleyway, John Doe wakes up to discover he has no idea who the hell he is. Somehow, his memory has disappeared. In its place – mysterious tattoos that seem connected to Drill and his control over children. Determined to piece together the puzzle of his life, John will follow the clues of his tattoos only to learn he is in fact Drew Bennigan, Claire’s missing husband. Now faced with the question of how to live a life he doesn’t remember, John will fight to recover his memory. Will he succeed? And if so, will he be able to live with the truth of his marriage? Or will he ultimately cross over to the Enemy’s side?
Ventimiglia, most recently seen on TNT’s now-canceled Mob City, joins a cast that already includes Barry Sloane.
The Wrap confirms that the Revenge star has joined the series in the role of Wes, a former FBI agent, "who’s currently with the Special Projects Division of the Defense department which investigates military threats best kept secret from the public. He’s married to Lena and a father to a 9-year-old named Minx, though he places his career above family. While investigating a shocking discovery in the Algerian desert, Wes becomes wrapped up in the biggest discovery of all time — we aren’t alone in the universe."
It's one of the most high-profile projects in development for the 2014-2015 broadcast season for any major network. With ABC's full backing, along with the pull of Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV, it should be interesting to see whether The Visitors will be a Lost-sized hit, or another miss for Spielberg, a la Terra Nova.
