Miley Cyrus To Star In 'MTV Unplugged' Special Next Week

Miley Cyrus is looking to make 2014 another banner year by kicking it off with a huge special on MTV next week.

The network has announced that Cyrus will be getting her own MTV Unplugged special on Jan. 29, performing raw, intimate versions of the songs that have made her a household name (assuming her music is what made her a name in your household).

With her appearance on Unplugged, Miley joins the likes of Bob Dylan, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, and Nirvana in the storied canon of the stripped-back, acoustic music series. MTV promises that the special will "showcase a more intimate side of Cyrus and feature surprise guests for an unexpected re-invention of the songs that have defined her career, including several from her #1 critically acclaimed album, Bangerz."

I think an unplugged special is perfect for Miley, as it allows her voice to take center stage. The less production, the more she gets the chance to let her vocals shine. And she does have some sizable vocals to work with. (Look no further than the video embedded below)

Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged will air Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 9:00 PM ET on MTV.
