'Mike & Molly' Taking Over 'The Millers' Time Slot

Mike & Molly is coming back sooner rather than later. And in a newer, earlier time slot.

The new season of Mike & Molly will premiere on Monday, December 8th at 8:30 PM ET, taking the place of The Millers, which got the ax over the weekend just four episodes into its second season. Mike & Molly is heading into its fifth season, which will have 22 episodes.

In preparation for the season premiere, CBS will be loading up its schedule with reruns of the comedy.

Beginning on Monday, December 1st, CBS will air four encore episodes of Mike & Molly followed by a repeat of Scorpion, because it's CBS and they'll probably still be one of TV's top networks no matter what they air. I suppose it's partially the result of the holiday doldrums, as November sweeps are over and Christmas programming takes over. If Mike & Molly remains a solid performer (it finished last season 33rd in the rankings for Mondays at 9:00 PM), then this move makes sense for CBS. If nothing else, it keeps Melissa McCarthy on TV in a role that allows her to show range in a way her movie roles haven't.
