Mike Colter Cast as Luke Cage In Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' for Netflix
It's official: Mike Colter is Luke Cage.
The Good Wife alum is joining Netflix's new Marvel series, Jessica Jones, as the superhero opposite Krysten Ritter's title character.
This likely means that Colter will be the lead of the planned Luke Cage spinoff series, although neither Netflix nor Marvel has confirmed as much just yet. However, Marvel is clearly stoked to have Colter on-board.
“Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought to life, and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor,” said Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb in a statement. “Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.”
Colter has mostly been a featured in genre series such as The Following and American Horror Story: Coven, so he should feel right at home on a series that isn't shy about depicting a world in which the unusual is the norm. I'm not sure if he can headline a series, but I'm excited to see him get the shot.
