Mikalah! (and oh, what a beautiful day it was)
I got a tip last night that Mikalah Gordon took a plane from Las Vegas to New York for a guest appearance on The Tony Danza Show. (Yup, he has a talk show!) So like a true fan, I rescheduled all my morning appointments and headed for the ABC studios near Lincoln Center.
It was of course a beautiful day in New York and I had one of the best days I've ever had in the city.
Mikalah apparently has the hots for John Gotti, Jr. and wants him to go to her prom. Well she got her wish today as Mr. Gotti made a surprise visit. Oh... it's the Italian thing, Mikalah, huh?
While waiting for Mikalah to come out of the studio, I took a picture of the "human billboard" (yes, that's a real tattoo) who brought the Our Lady of Grilled Cheese Sandwich which sold for $28,000 on eBay. He also gave me a goldenpalace.com t-shirt.
Alicia Silverstone (remember her?) also passed by quickly...

I really felt like the paparazzi today! I was with a photographer and reporter from the National Enquirer. So this is what they do. Haha. And finally Mikalah came out (after an hour and half waiting):

With brother Sam and mom Victoria!

Ok, the Italian connection is on Mikalah's lower back.
When I had my chance for a picture with Mikalah (she had a publicist call all the shots), I hugged her, kissed on the check and wished her luck! I also gave her some prints of my Gates pictures.

Every two Tuesdays, I have a "power lunch" with Jimi Sweet and we trade notes about what we've been up to with computers and other topics. We moved our Tuesday lunch to Wednesday due to the rain last Monday (?) Anyway, Jimi showed me his brand-spankin' new PSP. I so want a PSP now! If I wasn't so poor at the moment... maybe in two months. The screen was exquisite. (I can watch my American Idol videos on it... haha.)
After lunch, I walked around Union Square a little bit, and the Mets bus rolled by and I got a free Mets t-shirt! Second free t-shirt of the day...
And then I walked around some more in the farmer's market and realized that it was a great day and the Spring flowers are coming. I will be taking more pictures of flowers in the coming days around the city (even if I my allergies start setting in -- which I can feel happening already).
Everytime I'm near Union Square, I make sure I visit Niles whose band's website I maintain. I'm excited for him now because his band Volatile-Id is getting more gigs (which may mean more work for me, yay).
Wednesday is comic book day, so later, I spent $50 in my favorite comic store (they surprised me today). Here's Tevon (hottie!) and Raphael from Time Machine on 14th Street:

I rushed to my rescheduled appointment on the Upper West Side and while on the subway, I met Juan Carlos who I used to date last year! I'm actually quite stupid since I keep all my contact numbers in my cellphone (with no backup) and when I lost my phone last January, I lost contact with him. He had also changed his e-mail. I honestly thought he was not interested anymore, and I really can't believe this chance encounter. Of course I got his phone number, and now we are in contact again... sweet! Happy day, happy day...
Wait! There's more... although minor, I was quite happy to have found Peanut Butter flavored Puffins in the grocery today. Already full of positive energy, I saw this guy with a stack of comics like me reading the Flash in the subway as I went home. Of course I chatted with him a little bit being the happy person that I was.
My super greeted me with a mysterious UPS package as I arrived at our building, and I really had no idea what it was. Did somebody finally buy me something from my Amazon wishlist? Anyway, it turned out to be great surprise: My Yankees Season Tickets finally arrived! Woohoo! Even if the tickets are high up there, at least I will be able to see a Yankees-Red Sox and Yankees-Mets game this year. Sweet.
And of course, the day ended with Anthony Fedorov surviving one more week.
A friend from the Philippines recently told me: "I think we have overachieved because of our refusal to admit how ridiculously life stacked the deck against us." There are not too many good days you know, but I'll gladly take them as they come.
Shalom and good night!
