Michael Strahan Joining 'Good Morning America'

So you know how news broke that Josh Elliott would be leaving Good Morning America for NBC Sports? Well, apparently, ABC isn't wasting time filling the vacancy. And they're promoting from within!

Michael Strahan, co-host of the syndicated ABC morning talk show Live With Kelly and Michael, is joining Good Morning America. The network has yet to make the announcement official just yet, but confirmation is expected soon, according to well-placed CNN sources.

Naturally, Strahan would continue co-hosting Live, appearing only occasionally in GMA segments beginning at 7 am from their Times Square studio. The former NFL star would then head uptown to do Live alongside Kelly Ripa.

Strahan is a warm, lively, endearing personality, so I think this news is actually kind of awesome. When he first was chosen to replace Regis Philbin on Live, I figured there was no way this was going to work, and yet I've been completely proven wrong at just about every turn, to the point that Strahan is now one of my favorite TV personalities, period. So I'm all onboard with this news.

And this is hardly the only change on the way, according to ABC News President Ben Sherwood, who referenced some big news in the coming weeks during his memorandum to staffers about co-anchor Amy Robach’s promotion. Sherwood noted, “In the days ahead, there will be more good news on the show, so stay tuned.”
