Michael Sam Tearfully Accepts ESPY Award (VIDEO)

Last night's ESPY Awards were momentous less for the iffy hosting job from Drake and more for the awards themselves. In particular, the moving, emotional speech from ESPY Award winner Michael Sam, the NFL's first openly-gay player. Sam took home the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, accepting the honor from presenter Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

In the following video of the speech, Sam accepts the award and details the struggle of being the first openly-gay man in a sport known for its aggressive masculinity. Through tears, Sam explains, "This year, I had a lot of experience being part of something bigger than myself. At times, I felt like I'd been living in a massive storm...but the lessons learned -- love, respect and being true to yourself -- will never leave me."
