Michael Sam, first openly gay NFL player, cut by St. Louis Rams
Michael Sam, the first openly gay NFL player, has been cut by the St. Louis Rams.
He failed to make the 53-man roster for the 2014 regular season. He could still be picked up by another team, but as of now, he won't be playing in a regular NFL game.
I'm very disappointed in this. I hope that the publicity surrounding him did not affect the decision for the coaching staff to let him go. He is technically the first openly gay player to be drafted by an NFL team, but as far as play, that is now back to a dream for the LGBTQ community.
