Michael Pitt Leaves 'Hannibal', Role Is Recast
Boardwalk Empire alum Michael Pitt is leaving Hannibal, meaning the show will have to find a whole new crazed farmer to replace him.
Although no reason for his departure has been disclosed, Pitt exited the series where he starred as Mason Verger, a demented pig farmer who first appeared in Season 2 of the cult NBC drama. Thus, the role will now be recast.
Luckily, NBC already has an actor lined up to fill in, as Joe Anderson (Across the Universe) will take over the role from Pitt. Hopefully, Anderson can deliver the same brooding, unsettling mystique Pitt brought to the role. I trust this show implicitly, so I'm sure Anderson will do right by the role. But I guess we won't find out until Hannibal returns for Season 3 in 2015.
